Community Movement Builders is starting a copwatch and community safety patrol focused on neighborhoods in SW Atlanta. CMB is a Black organization focused on creating sustainable self-determining communities, with roots in the Pittsburgh neighborhood. They have already begun training young people on how to conduct patrols to intervene against police violence and reduce intra-community conflict, but the goal is to create a sustainable cooperative which can pay stipends to members who do the work of getting trained and performing patrols. They're raising funds to get this initiative off the ground.
Copwatch of East Atlanta is committed to developing community copwatch efforts. We know that the most reliable counter to mistreatment is empowering communities to stand up for themselves. Please contribute to the CMB initiative. This is a great opportunity to put power directly in the hands of those most affected by police abuse. Together with the Teardown Community, we're matching all donations up to $3,500!
